Father and daughter battling it out on the Wii system
Father’s day is upon us so what to do? Dads, and men in general, tend to be pretty simple and straightforward so planning can be somewhat easy but not at the expense of not being special.
The first thing to do is just ask him straight up. Most men will know and tell immediately. And, many times they’ll just want to stay at home with the family having no plans but good food, enjoyable activities and chore-less.
So, what exactly to do? Go with the stomach can be the easiest guess. Cook up his favorite breakfast, lunch and/or dinner. Or, many times, the man likes to cook and is a treat to have the family enjoy the spoils of his outdoor grilling. It’s June so cooking outside is a given. Get all of the fixins’ on Saturday so Sunday is nothing but relaxing, party mobilizing and celebrating Dad-ness.
Another option is to have one of the fancy dinner delivery services. It’s where a chef prepares a meal(s) at their own kitchen then delivers to your door either that day or the day before. So you get a fancy meal but at the ease of staying home. And make sure he gets to pick the menu.
Special things to do is have the kids make their own cards. And, again, make their own cards. Not pick them out of at a store and sign them. Dad receiving a homemade gift from their 8 year old will be remembered forever. Especially when it reads “Yo-da Best Dad” with a hand drawn picture of Yoda holding his light saber.
Another special personal touch is have the kids make cookies, cakes, cupcakes or something sweet and yummy. What man is going to refuse homemade chocolate chip cookies. Just make sure the cleaning is not on the Dad’s plate. Pun intended.
How about video games? The kids have a Wii or Nintendo with games the Dad enjoys. Men are children all of their lives and won’t back done from a good match of John Madden football. Or, heck, that could be the Father’s day gift. You can also rent those game systems from rent to own stores if you don’t own one or want it just for that day or week.
Spending time on the couch watching a Father’s day picked movie. Something the whole family can enjoy but picked by the father. Nothing more relaxing and special then watching movies together.
Whatever you choose, the best direction is to have Dad pick the agenda but make sure it is family oriented under the father’s favorite things to do. The very definition of a father is that there is a family attached so make Father’s day special at home and together.
Just another Shop RTO family, holiday tip.
